Why learn conversational Spanish? I live in the U.S. and you can go from Southeastern U.S. to Alaska, 4,000+ miles, and everyone you encounter will speak English (except illegals and tourists)!

Thus there are many common words, like actor and tranquil for example. Same meaning and spelling just different pronunciations. In Spanish: ac-TOR, tran-KEEL.

Moreover there are hundreds of words that quickly become understandable because of their similarities. English utility is the same as Spanish utilidad. Responsibility = responsibilidad. Activity = actividad and so on.
